Ceder Rapids and Mickey's aka a fun saturday night.

Yesterday after some more lectures on procedures and expectations I got to go into the next major town, Ceder Rapids. They organized vans for us that went to walmart, target and the mall so we could get things we needed. I went to the mall with a friend just to get off campus and walk around.

We've been having catered meals all week but that's not the normal procedure and yesterday we got to use the team kitchens. In all 3 resident halls are atleast 2 kitchen and dining halls that get shared between teams, (multiple fridges stoves, toasters etc). My temporary team and I made taco's which was really fun to then sit down as a family of 11.

After dinner a few friends and I bundled up and faced the 10° weather to walk into town for bowling and drinks. Was maybe an 8 block walk which wasn't too bad however the ally closed at 10 so we walked across the street to the local dive bar Mickey's, where we ran into a few other members. definitely had a great time socializing, singing along to almost every song (lots of country, yay) and laughing for hours. We do not have curfews on campus, just have to inform our leaders if we're not coming home. I was worried how strict they were going to be but anything unrelated to work and uniforms they are hands free of. They treat us like adults which is awesome

Today (sunday) is our day off! No muster at 7am and trainings (which officially start tomorrow). Today is a sleep in, lounge around and hangout day. Only thing on our schedule is at 5pm when we'll get assigned our real teams for the next 10 months! So nervous.

Pictures to come of around campus!
